Hiring the right contractors is a Must:  Always check reference's call around check out their prior work ask questions: As we all know some folks can blow up a gunny sack with HOT Air:

Never trust them with your Cards Credit or others:

Have them bid the Jobs Labor Only as you will purchase the Materials:  Not saying you have to go the Hardware store your self set up accounts Home Depot or whatever your choose my be: When contractor is there meet them pay for Material then or just call in your credit card once you build your confidence with the Contractor

Always stop in make sure never be absentee investor at least stop in on the weekends:

Have a time frame after all they told you how many weeks they need up front hold them to it with a penalty: Pay them weekly as work goes on Fridays at 5pm Always never pay that 100% up front or before they are done
